Company History

The company's President and CEO, Wayne Gould, remains committed to the values his father instilled in the company over 40 years ago.










In 1970, Turret Steel was founded in Manhattan, NY.

In 1979, our warehouse and sales office were relocated to Leetsdale, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

In 1996, Turret acquired the steel bar division of Azcon Steel in Gary, Indiana.

In 1998, the company acquired the Sunbelt Steel Company that was renamed Sunbelt-Turret Steel, Inc., a large diameter steel bar supplier and processor in Charlotte, NC.

In 1999, the company aquired a 160,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility in Warren, OH that enabled the company to consolidate a number of operations and add to the many services that we offer.

In 2002, we acquired a state-of-the-art, 80,000 sq. ft warehouse in Chicago, IL (just minutes from Midway airport).

In 2004, we acquired a 110,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Charlotte, NC.

In 2007, we acquired a 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Cooper TX.

In 2008, when many other companies were closing their doors, we opened a 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Dos Palos, CA.

In 2009, we acquired a 35,000 sq. ft. warehouse in South Windsor, CT.

In 2010, we acquired a 14,000 sq. ft. office building in Imperial, PA where our sales office and Corporate offices of Turret Steel Industries, Inc. and Sunbelt-Turret Steel Inc. are now located.

In 2010, we acquired Wilcox Steel, a manufacturer of cold drawn bars located in Green Bay, WI.

In 2011, we acquired a 82,000 sq. ft. warehouse located in Portland, OR.
